I was thinking this too, but is there any reason to think we haven’t seen every regeneration of River as she grew up? I mean, I don’t know the technicalities, but it would be weird for her to be a 20’s adult and then go back to being a kid again (who grows up with Amy and regenerates into Alex Kingston River)?

Although, I guess, the Master did kind of do something similar his last regeneration. So. Idk.

I can’t say I’m really against this theory entirely. It would be weird that Clara keeps dying and regenerating as herself, if she is River? And I don’t want all the River muck caught up with JLC, and I don’t want to lose her as a new companion so soon. But I do think River’s story deserves more in terms of the “working backwards through her timeline” department because she has gotten the hella shaft in that department. Not that I trust Moffatt to not fuck it up again
