So this is how my cousin decided to tell us that he and his wife were expecting a child.EXPECT THE UNEXPECTEDCOMING TO A HOSPITAL NEAR YOU IN SEPTEMBER 2013

You thought Alien was a parody of human childbirth, but it’s actually a deadly visualization of Kangaroo birth(s).
scientists recently discovered the body of a giant sea spider like organism in antarctic waters. the origin of this species is unknown, and it is unclear whether or not there are more of these terrifying creatures roaming the oceans.
I just pissed myself.
One Ali’i park region
refugio sanctuary HONAUNAU
They didn’t give me much to work with but I’ll still unravel this to my satisfaction. (No Asian artifacts, huh? Or Australian? I could go on.)
So those are Hawaiian petroglyphs.
FWIW, because I’d never heard of Honaunau: “up until the early 19th century, Hawaiians who broke a kapu (one of the ancient laws) could avoid certain death by fleeing to this place of refuge or puʻuhonua” [Wikipedia] (It’s on the Big Island)
So I’m bringing this back because we finally got to petroglyphs this week in my Hawaiian art class. Despite the fact that I love that some science-fiction alien-theory FINALLY acknowledged that there are ancient civilizations outside the Egyptians and the Mayans, I have to laugh—
The “dots” and “dots within circles”, despite being one of the most numerous petroglyphs, actually symbolize individuals and family connections. So I find it pretty humorous that they’re being used here as stars and galaxies and orbits?! Haha. Although the “orbits” aren’t exactly… unrelated?— some of the concentric circles and arcs represent times people went around the island (possibly with the makahiki, a seasonal festival where Lono images were paraded around the island).
Anyway, so there’s half of me that is like YAY HAWAII HISTORY and the other half is that whole *grumble grumble ancient aliens theory* and laughing at the fact that they used the petroglyphs TOTALLY wrong, but, eh. HISTORY AND SCIENCE FICTION, come to me, my babies
also apparently i can’t force-reblog myself anymore and i keep accidentally posting things to maths-help, whoops
