Luckily about five pages of it will be images, but I’m just really tired of analyzing a history of Niemeyer’s work. I mean, I love his work, but I wish I had a book that just enumerated his works rather than was a collection of essays on his different styles and whatnot. I’m at the point where I’m ready to pick like four more structures and call it quits, but I’m only in the 1950s and HE’S STILL ALIVE! That’s 60+ years of work left to analyze.

I just discovered Crackle. I watched Snatch (excellent), then Stranger Than Fiction, and now I’m watching Jackie Chan adventures.
I’m slowly plodding through my project. Due tomorrow at five no matter how far into the project I am.
I got my exam moved to next Tuesday, and thanks to my wonderful, amazing parents, I have a flight home a week from tomorrow.
…And then I get to be anxious for the next few months over what the fuck I’m doing with my life. Excellent. :C
By the way. Stranger Than Fiction— I forgot how amazing that movie is. I just feel really at peace when I watch it. It’s horrifically tragic, and I’m so horribly morbid and appreciative of the literary bits that I laugh through it all the same. I know people don’t really like Maggie Gyllenhall as an actor but I LOVE her in it. And I think it’s that conviction (hers) that made me love her as Katie Holmes’ replacement in Dark Knight.
I think my favorite part about it is that at the absolutely saddest part, quite possibly the climax of the storyline —although you could argue there are two, perhaps? In which case I’m not sure which is the main climax and when the denouement begins, but I’d argue for this one— there is one bit of such BRILLIANT writing that I die of laughter every time.
Not to mention, the graphic animation is brilliant as well, as is the soundtrack. It actually reminds me a bit of the Hitchhiker’s movie, and also BBC’s Sherlock, because of the lovely animation bits.
I think I’m officially going to call it my second favorite movie, assuming my “first favorite” is Raiders with the subcategory “the whole Indiana Jones movie franchise”.
ALSO HOW DID I FORGET JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES WAS MILDLY ARCHAEOLOGY BASED
Can’t get a flight home earlier. Final exam rescheduled with drama and clusterfuckery. Can’t salvage my old ticket price even though right now I could get a $500 ticket home! Augh. Fuck.
I can’t take two more weeks here. Not that I’m going to do anything productive at home, I just hate being here with nothing to do living in an awful place and eating awful food. And having no one to go riding with, and the roads and the drivers here are shit, and I just want to go home and hug my damn kitties.
I just realized this as I rewatched #3 this evening. So at the end of the third movie both Indy and his dad drank from the Holy Grail…the cup of everlasting life and blah…the cup that saved his dad after he was shot and healed a friggin bullet wound…
SO WHY THE FUCK IS HIS DAD DEAD IN THE FOURTH MOVIE??????????
Why does Indy even bother surrendering when people point guns at him. He could probably get shot full of holes and not die.
It’s like the fourth movie just ignored the other three….oh wait IT DID
I really did try so hard to like this movie but after the motorcycle bit towards the beginning and a few bits with Marion this film was basically crap
Henry Jones, Sr wasn’t in the fourth movie because Sean Connery had retired at this point. George Lucas asked if he wanted to come back for the movie but he declined.
And the power of the holy grail only works if you stay with in the great seal. Once one passes over it, the power is now rendered useless. As the grail knight told them. Hence why Dr. Jones was able to die and Indy was able to age.
The fourth movie did a great job of NOT ignoring the last three, in fact it even integrated materials from the tv show The Young Adventures of Indiana Jones that Lucas produced in the 90’s.
Lastly, I think there could be a better word than “retarded” to describe your dislike for the film.
I think one of the books (or the YIJC where he’s like 100 and wears an eyepatch?) reinforces the idea that Indy and his dad, like the two brothers of the Grail Knight (and which are discussed in LC), lived longer-than-average lives due to drinking from the grail, but since they left the seal-cave it wouldn’t be eternal.
Haha, this is more like… the basics… devil’s advocate is me saying THE FRIDGE SCENE DIDN’T SUCK AND I DON’T CARE
…Tarzan took it too far though. I mean one vine, fine, but… catching up with cars… just no, why
(Ed: Your primary tumblrs majored in two of these and now work in the field of a third.)
Hm. #5, while I am wishing I’m in #2/3, with a little bit of #4, wishing I could study #9. Good thing I got that engineering degree, as much as I hate it…
Jesus, Drama has less unemployment than Arch though. That’s good I guess?
I’m not too terribly worried though, considering the field I want to go into is kind of it’s own world that doesn’t seem to really know how to get people involved directly. I’m hoping a varied background is therefore a strength…
